Recently, we received a large order at our workshop for masks with feathers. We hadn't made such masks before, so this was our first time dealing with a situation where we needed to attach feathers to our masks.

In the end, we managed to attach the feathers to our masks very effectively using a variety of different methods.
The first and simplest method was gluing the feathers onto clear double-sided tape. It holds really well, and if needed, the feather can be easily removed along with the tape.

The second method was a bit more complex, and we occasionally use a similar technique with other materials on our skull masks. We use a hot metal awl or a soldering iron to make holes in the skull, matching the diameter of the object we want to insert. Using this method, we inserted the feathers so that they couldn't be pulled out, yet they stayed firmly in place.
For the most complex mask, which required a large number of feathers, we came up with a combination of several methods. We ordered feathers on a strip — a bunch of rooster feathers were already attached to a tape. We simply cut the tape to size and fastened it to the skull using metal staples. The feathers on the tape covered the previous layer, so neither the tape nor the staples were visible. The very last row was done using the "soldering-in" method described above. And that's how we ended up with this feather crown — a true bird crown.
